چکیده

One of the basic assumptions of the classical dynamic lot-sizing model is that the aggregate demand of a given period must be satisfied in that period. Under this assumption, if backlogging is not allowed then the demand of a given period cannot be delivered earlier or later than the period. If backlogging is allowed, the demand of a given period cannot be delivered earlier than the period, but can be delivered later at the expense of a backordering cost. Like most mathematical models, the classical dynamic lot-sizing model is a simplified paraphrase of what might actually happen in real life. In most real life applications, the customer offers a grace period-we call it a demand time window-during which a particular demand can be satisfied with no penalty. That is, in association with each demand, the customer specifies an earliest and a latest delivery time. The time interval characterized by the earliest and latest delivery dates of a demand represents the corresponding time window. This paper studies the dynamic lot-sizing problem with demand time windows and provides polynomial time algorithms for computing its solution. If shortages are not allowed, the complexity of the proposed algorithm is O(T 2). When backlogging is allowed, the complexity of the proposed algorithm is O(T 3).

Uncapacitated lot-sizing problem with production time windows, early production, backlog and lost sale

We consider the single item uncapacitated lot-sizing problem with production time windows, lost sale, early production and backlog over a planning horizon of T periods. In this context, a demand not processed within its time window can either be lost (lost sale), satisfied from a production that is processed before the release period of the demand (early production) or satisfied from a producti...

Development of a novel lot sizing model with variable lead time in supply chain environment

Supply chain management (SCM) addresses the management of materials and information across the entire chain from suppliers to producers, distributors, retailers, and customer. The theory of supply chain management suggests that lead time reduction is a pioneer to the use of market mediation to reduce transaction uncertainty in the chain, which can be conceptualized as the primary goal of supply...

A polynomial time algorithm for the single-item lot sizing problem with capacities, minimum order quantities and dynamic time windows

This paper deals with the single-item capacitated lot sizing problem with concave production and storage costs, considering minimum order quantity and dynamic time windows. This problem models a lot sizing where the production lots are constrained in amount and frequency. In this problem, a demand must be satisfied at each period t over a planning horizon of T periods. This demand can be satisf...
